"Just a few clicks" - The review I wish I'd read before we switched We recently changed to Silverpop from Blue Sky's Publicaster, and aside from the technical hurdles of how differently everything is handled in Silverpop the program is fairly comprehensive for our needs. If you are an agency however you will find Silverpop's architecture very time consuming and often frustrating since everything is in a folder structure instead of separate accounts - you spend a lot of time in dialog boxes telling Silverpop where to put things and it always forgets where you are contextually - all those extra clicks add up; and many things that were created automatically now have to be set up manually (such as suppression lists). They have "orgs" but these aren't as easy to set up and they cost per each and have to be accessed with separate, unique logins. Also, we experience frequent mailing delays of up to 2 hours, plus about one hour-long outage (no access to Marketer at all) every week on average, right during business hours; today we've had four (4) separate outages. Until this improves I certainly can't in good conscience recommend them. Silverpop has a few cool features that Publicaster didn't have, and yes their client list is pretty impressive, but I'd rather have simplicity of use and good reliability.

Clementine is no copy... I agree with the post from 'kumm'. I laughed loud when I read the previous review from 'Tom' suggesting that Clementine was a copy of SAS EM. Clementine was first developed in the mid 90's almost a decade before SAS released their first independant data mining tool (Enterprise Miner). I'm still surprised SPSS hasn't sued SAS over copyright and design infringement. If anything, EM would be a copy of Clementine. In my mind the cost of both is overpriced, but SAS tools have always been far more expensive than SPSS. Clementine has a far less statistical focus (it dumbs everything down, but expert options and are available if you look for them) and using a user graphical interface as its core rather than a front-end to an underlying programming code (as SAS EM does). Depending on your experience and preference this may be a good or bad thing. The main strength of Clementine is that it has no requirement for SPSS, SAS datasets or similar. It has no permanent data store of its own. It uses ODBC to connect to the existing SQL database or data sets you have. It automatically converts your analysis into SQL code and send this to the database, so the processing is done on the database, not your desktop. This is referred to as 'in-database mining' and is an example of how scaleability of Clementine can far exceed SAS when analysing huge terabyte databases / datasets. disclaimer: I currently work as the prinicpal data miner for a large corporate. A few years ago I worked for SPSS. - Tim

Skadate software OK but "support" is the WORST! Yes, you should try something before you buy it. But the problem is that as a customer of Skadate I've been treated very poorly. I've had their software for over a year and now I see why so may other sites say STAY AWAY FROM SKADATE! While they may say they have only posted from their competitiors I am NOT a compeitor. I am a paying customer of theirs and if you doubt this information you should check out the Skadate forums on their very own website. Lots of their customers complain about Skadate's VERY poor customer service and response times. Don't take this one post as the gospel on any site. Please research before you purchase ANY dating profile software. Bottom LINE: STAY AWAY from Skadate! Unless you like paying a lot of money for very little customer service.

Very comprehensive CMS The thing that sets WebGUI apart is that it has a HUGE list of included features. I didn't have to install a bunch of 3rd party plugins. We were considering using Microsoft Sharepoint but this provides equivalent functionality but is free and open source! I found WebGUI on CMSmatrix.org and only gave it a shot because of all of the features it included. Worth a look for sure.
